Keisha's Entry

The Dog Sledding events of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

One day in Vancouver a girl that was twelve got up and made breakfast. The girls name was Kelly. Since Kelly had to do things herself was because her mother was busy working because Kelly’s mother was a single mother and she worked very hard to make the money that Kelly and her baby sister needed. Kelly’s baby sister’s name was Leya and Leya loved being with her big sister Kelly. Kelly went into Leya’s room and saw her playing with their two huskies. 01-i Leya it’s time for breakfast. Is it french toast asked Leya? No but it’s porridge okay said Leya excitedly. So they had breakfast and Kelly read the paper for a while after breakfast.

It said winter Snow Olympics if you want to join just pick the best thing your good at and do it in front of a crowd. Kelly was really good at dog sledding she and her baby sister Leya did it every winter. So that night Kelly asked her mother if she could join the Olympics. Her mother said what are you really good at? Kelly said dog sledding. Well dog sledding it will be then said Kelly’s mother.

So Kelly got up the next morning had a quick breakfast and left with the dogs to the trail by her house. She got in her sled hooked up the huskies and whipped. It was hard to steer and she bailed a few times but after every practice she said practice makes perfect. She was right. On her final day she decided that she would bring Leya to the Olympics so she and Leya practiced the whole day until they got the hang of it and the dogs loved it. They loved to run and when they ran they ran fast. Leya loved it so much that she kept asking for more. But Kelly would say the dogs are tired and need a rest.

The next day Kelly said see you in a while to her mother and her and Leya were off. When they got where they were going they had to wait in a big long line until their turn and they were not the only dog sledders there were a few more than them. So the judges said there will be a race for all of you and so they started over a jump through a forest and over a frozen pond. If they managed to get over the pond with out breaking it they would win. But if they did break the judges would save the person and the dogs. When Kelly and Leya got closer to the frozen pond Kelly’s heart pounded with fear because she had never practiced going over a frozen pond before. She was also worried about Leya slipping out of her grip. She wanted to be perfect because her mother was a spectator and her mother would be worried about Leya and the dogs if they fell in. But then a zing of bravery ran through Kelly’s stomach like an airplane in the sky. She gritted her teeth and the dogs stepped onto the frozen pond and they ran right across the pond and Kelly couldn’t believe it she had won a gold medal and her mother ran out and hugged her and said you really are a darling.

Kelly new her mother was proud Kelly was proud to. When she was grown up she told her children about the time when she was a real champion of the 2010 Olympics they were very interested and they wanted to be champions of the Olympics but the Olympics was over and that was certain.
