Announcement of an online journalism 11/12 credit course with special consideration for SET-BC students

July 2008,

Dear Parents,

SET-BC is sponsoring a student website called Virtual Voices Village (www.vvvillage.org.)  The website is a place for BC students with disabilities to tell their own stories, to engage in their communities and to build important communication skills.  With support from SET-BC, 2010 Legacies Now and 3M, an online journalism course has been prepared and will be delivered by the EBUS Academy (www.ebus.ca) SD 93 - Nechako Lakes beginning in September of this year.  The course will complement the Virtual Voices Village website, and students may submit their stories for publication on the site.

View the details of the course and registration instructions. The course is available for early registration by SET-BC students, but will be posted on the EBUS.ca website and made available to all BC students in August of 2008.  We encourage SET-BC students interested in journalism or communication skills to register for this course as soon as possible.  This is a four credit grade 11 and 12 course, but is available to students in Grade 10 who have completed English 10.  Students may begin the course at any time during the year and work at their own pace, but must finish by June of 2009.

Sincerely,
Joe Cash
